Nitra. Shortly after midnight, a fire broke out in the area of Nitra high school. 237 students had to evacuate from the dormitory.
The flames absorbed the roof on the extension of the boarding school Slančíková. Its founder is the county. The fire was confirmed by the director of the Office Peter Privalinec.
« We are in place and we are dealing with the situation, » he said after midnight.
« The dormitory premises are smoked, the damage should not be great, » said Jakub Takáč from the communication department in the county.
He later added that they estimate the damage at half a million euros.
Students were immediately evacuated to the table tennis gym. According to Takáč, they were taken to the hospital at least two because they inhaled the combustion products. Another girl injured her ankle.
Several children were treated directly in the ambulance.
Privalinec informed that they had also taken a French student to the hospital. He was staying at the boarding school as a participant in the international gastrofestival, which took place at school.
After several students, parents came at night, for others the county provided alternative accommodation in their other school accommodation facilities.
