« As there is a sand pump in the street »

Many things have gone on at Kvistavöll in Hafnarfjörður, and residents there describe considerable damage due to sand that flows into household piping systems due to construction in the area.

« This is one of the secrets of this company, which it does not want to be mentioned, » says Ólafur Guðlaugsson, a resident of Kvistavellir, about his communication with Veitur because of the problem. The damage has been costly to him.

In response to the inquiry mbl.is, Veitur says they have set up a so -called well in the street to prevent the problem, but Olaf says it is still there.

Olaf has had to renew almost all the equipment in the house from scratch.

Sand in the hot water

Ólafur says that the problem can be attributed to 2019 when the Örla meloded that water pressure in the home was low. At that time, he realized that the pitches were under construction but says the situation is different today, the neighborhood is 20 years old.

Subsequently, one and one device, such as floor heat pumps and mixers, has begun to fail when sand began to flow in with the hot water, accumulate and clog the home pipe system. He says today he has had to renew almost all the equipment in the house from scratch.

« It had become such a big problem that they were with me daily for a period of time to release sand. Now, the last thing was just the heating of my house and the house next to it, as this has been a problem too, » he says. He has had to hire a pipe about 20 times out of the problem.

Then he has once brought a case to the company that referred him to his insurance company.

« They have never wanted to admit any blame in this, but they still dig up the street in my home, make an effort to fix this, but still say it has never been anything. »

Says Veitur « First, all responsibility »

« After referring me to the insurance company in 2021, they said they had spoken to professionals. Then they had the office workers at the Icelandic Insurance Company (VÍS).

Then they began to refer to the principles of the rule of law that an employee did not cause damage. It is a tactic for this company to tire people until it gives up. «

He says Veitur formerly with all responsibility because it did not happen. All images that the company sent to the insurance company were taken after the filters were cleaned. « Then they said: That’s how it looks, it’s okay. »

Olaf says that public companies in a monopoly position cannot behave like a private company. « I have talked to five or six middle managers with those who all refer to each other. They just say: I’m a mud. »

« Pretend not to recognize each other »

Ólafur says Veitur’s employees refer to each other and does not recognize previous communication. Among other things, he spoke to employees who admitted to him that there was a well -known problem.

« The next thing I know is that he is no longer on the payroll. They don’t pretend to be familiar with him, but I still have a screenshot of his address and more. They have never been able to explain this. »

When asked, Ólafur has shared the screenshot with the company and its response was to direct him to the Social Security Complaints Committee.

They never seen anything else like

« The utility manager in Hafnarfjordur, Guðmundur Elíasson, has come to me twice to meet the pipe that has been working with me. They both say they have never seen anything like it. The pictures lie nothing. »

The name of the pot at his home is blue in color but is usually black out of the sand.

Utilities want to seek solutions

In the response of Veitur to the request mbl.is, Veitur is sorry that this problem is repeatedly coming up in the house, but employees have been in contact with the residents.

When a tip was received from him in 2021, it was reacted by cleaning filters. In November last year, he had re -contact and utilities responded by cleaning back sand in filters and installing a so -called well in the street to prevent the problem.

Utilities want to seek solutions in this matter in collaboration with the homeowner and will continue to be in contact with him on the matter.

Following this response from the company, Ólafur again contacted the journalist and announced that Veitur had contacted and now want to negotiate with him on the matter.
