During the excavations of pumps, archaeologists discovered the remains of four people, including a child who tried to block the door to the bedroom furniture to protect against Vesuvius eruption.
Eventually the house became their last refuge, says in studypublished in e-jurnal of the pompeii excavations, writes CNN.
During the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius, which occurred in the 79th AD, the volcano threw out the deadly hot gases and ashes into the air, which gradually killed most of the inhabitants of Pompeev. Then the ashes and Puma covered the city and its inhabitants, « preserving » the last moments of their lives for millennia.
Excavations of Pompeev have been going on for over two centuries. Currently, the team has undertaken to explore the so -called Elli and Frix House (named after mythological painting inside).
Archaeologists have opened an atrium with a rainwater collection pool, a luxurious banquet hall, a room with a hole in the ceiling for rain and bedroom.
Scientists have found that repair work continued during the eruption, and the mythological plot of the wall painting tragically resonates with the events that have played inside.
When small pieces of volcanic emissions began to fall out, four residents of the house rushed to the bedroom and barricaded the door with a bed. But with the increasing precipitation, they probably pushed the bed and tried to escape. The remnants of people were found in a banquet hall.

« The first pyroclastic cloud or the collapse of the upper floors probably caused their death », – the researchers say.
A dense mixture of ash, gas and stones filled the house. Scientists have created a plaster cast of the bed, filling the cavity remaining after the destruction of the wooden frame.
On the central wall of the banquet hall depicts a fresco with Frix and his sister Ella. According to the myth, they fled from the evil stepmother on a golden ram, but Ella fell into the sea (Gellespont). On the fresco, she extends her hand to a brother – a gesture that is eerily resonating with desperate attempts to save the residents of the house.
« Pompeii digs is to meet the beauty of art and at the same time be aware of the fragility of our lives.
Everything we dig up is a surprise, and in Pompey these surprises tell very personal stories and at the same time highlight the collective experience of tragedy « , – says the director of the archaeological park of Pompeyev Gabriel Sugtrigel.
