As far as DJ Nosi has not yet made it a Luxembourg

As far as DJ Nosi has not yet made it a Luxembourg

« I always said to myself: one day you will be up there too. » Nosi would not have expected that things would go so quickly. The 25-year-old will be the first Luxembourg DJ at Tomorrowland this summer, the world’s largest and most important electrical festivalput on in the Belgian city of Boom.

However, he is not the only one out of the Grand Duchy: the DJane Ogazón (Nathalie Faber) will also play a live set at the festival. This is a premiere: so far no DJ and no DJane from Luxembourg has made it to Tomorrowland. Nosi and Ogazón are the first.

Last year, Nosi meant to his friend and Booker Louis Loschetter when the two visited Tomorrowland together: « The next time I come here, then I want to hang up here. »

He still cannot really grasp the fact that Nosi will appear on the « Crystal Garden » stage in front of thousands of fans of electronic music. « For DJs, Tomorrowland is what the Olympiad is for athletes: you want to be there once, » said the musician, who played a live set at the Viandes Castle at the weekend.

This week is nosi, born in Eric Nosbusch, probably on the last time with the Luxembourg high school graduates in Lloret de Mar and put on the night clubs. On the eve of the national holiday, he will then be on stage again and make the crowd dancing – this time in the Neimënster Abbey.

From the north of Luxembourg on the big stage

For these long nights, which do not do without preparation, it will certainly need plenty of energy. But the 25-year-old, who defeated his leukemia disease with the help of a stem cell donation, clearly does not lack the 25-year-old.

Awakened and with a wide grin on the face, the blond head welcomes the « Luxembourg word » in the Unison Studios in Differdingen – a place that Nosi likes to use to get together with other artists. Otherwise, he works more at home – be it here in Luxembourg or in his study city of Vienna – on his music.

How would he describe this in the meantime? « As a melodic Afro House and Melodic Techno. » In general, the style of the Putscheid DJ has changed a lot in recent years. He made his beginnings at the age of around 16 at local folk festivals, the typical “Baler”, which are particularly popular in the north of the country.

In addition, he was temporarily Residenz-DJ in the Ettelbrücken Discotheque MPire and gradually appeared at festivals such as the Loa, at big events such as the Luxexpo Open Air or as support act at concerts by DJs such as Steve Aoki. Nosi already had some appearances abroad.

For DJs, Tomorrowland is what Olympia is for athletes: you want to be there.

DJ Nosi

A highlight of his previous career is one of his joint songs with gymnastics. Aka tunnar: « Schëdden » is the name of the track, which in 2019 was going up and down, especially for younger generations.

New ways in the musical career

In the meantime, Nosi sees herself not only as a DJ, but also as an artist. He not only wants to hang up, but also produce more and more himself, produce his own style more strikingly. A decision that he already made after the pandemic.

« In a long period of time, my goal is to put up less and less commercially. It is fun to be a » People Pleaser « and always play what people already know. But nobody will come to you from abroad and book you. That is why it is important to find your own way as an artist. That is what you later take off from others and keep your career while running, » emphasizes his blue eyes with a light one Flash the green tinge.

But maybe you can see it like the Baggy jeans in fashion: it was gone for several years and now it is back. And it is no different in music.

DJ Nosi

The 25-year-old wants to focus on his development as a DJ-that’s why it is now so far to leave a lot behind and to break new ground. This is also the reason why Nosi may no longer be seen in the future with the Luxembourg high school graduates in Lloret de Mar or on various « bales ».

Luxemburger at Tomorrowland

Nosi will be on the « Crystal Garden » stage on Saturday, July 19. But the 25-year-old is not the only Luxemburger who will play at the world’s largest electrical festival this year.

The Luxembourg-Spanish Djane Ogazón, which is called Nathalie Ogazón Faber with a native name, is also on site. She hangs up in the Belgian city of Boom on July 19 – but on the « Core Stage ».

« It was a very nice time, I loved it. I come from the north, from the » Baler « and I would even say that my biggest supporters also come from there. But it is simply time to venture out musically. This is an important development for me. »

Social media more important than ever before

The fact that Eric Nosbusch is so enthusiastic about electronic music is that he explained that he grew up at a time in the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) experienced a real hype. « I grew up with music by Avicii, Skrillex Swedish House Mafia. » In fact, he never dealt with other genres in this way. « With the help of electronic music, I can best express my feelings, » said Nosi.

Read too:

He has never heard statements like « This is not music that these DJs do ». « You might get something like that over several corners. But these are simply outdated opinions. » In general, Nosi believes that electronic music will remain forever.

Will she be as popular as it is currently in a distant future? « It is difficult to say. But maybe you can see it like the Baggy Jeans in fashion: it was gone for several years and now it is back. And it is no different in music. Many songs that are just published are previous classics and these were already classics in the 1970s or so. »

What has a strong influence on the music industry today is social media. « Unfortunately, I would say that social media for artists – especially for young and newcomers – are more important today than the live area and the music itself, » explains Nosi. « There are many DJs who make it far, not because of their musical quality, but because they understood that » social media game « . And we have arrived at a time, you can no longer, have it anymore.

« So good » became a viral song

The Luxembourg DJ has already experienced how influential social media can be – his song « So Good », which he published in February this year, went viral on various platforms. However, Nosi cannot explain the popularity of this song to a hundred percent.

« I think it’s a matter of luck. But the song also has a certain unique character. It is a track that immediately stands out on social media and which can be used well for videos. »

« So Good » is even one of the songs that came about with very little pressure. « When I produce it, it always works differently. There is no precise recipe. But I keep finding that the songs that you do not forced and which you do not plan too specific are often the best. »

When it comes to creating a live set, it will be a completely different form of working. And in the end you have to see how the audience reacts. With a smile, Nosi says: « You can compare this with an exam at school or at the university: you try to learn everything and afterwards you write what is currently being asked. »
