Artificial intelligence is already changing teachers

There is no language for artificial intelligence to change the teacher completely, but it is possible that it can contribute and facilitate work to the educator. Especially for the school -organizing school for remote lessons.

« There is a lot of mechanical work, such as the layout of the same theoretical material, repetition for children, which, for example, was not during the educational process – at the time of a live lesson. Artificial intelligence could change those things perfectly, » said Mindaugas Malcevičius, Deputy Director of Šiauliai Covenant progymnasium.

« We hope that by the first of September we will solve all the problems. Part of the lessons that contain repetitions, the most commonly asked questions – will already be saved by artificial intelligence, » said Kęstutis Šaltis, Director of Šiauliai Sandora’s progymnasium.

The desire to involve artificial intelligence in distance education did not emerge only in itself – teachers are decreasing in the country. Although schools are now turning away, finding new educators is increasingly difficult.

« In the future, we will walk on a much thinner ice. It may be that about 60 posts will be missing next year. There are certainly a lot of things in preschool and pre -school profile teachers, » explained Šiauliai Vice Mayor Justinas Švėgžda.

« 10 years ago, when we were looking for a specialist, we had about 100 resumes, and 30 of them were perfect. Then we chose 5 and combined with them.

Thus, artificial intelligence is increasingly discussed about changing teachers. How long will it last to become a reality is unclear.

« It is certainly very realistic that over a period of several years we will talk about the fact that artificial intelligence will be in schools, next to teachers and help during the educational process. It helps to achieve quality and ensure that lack of educators, » Malcevičius said.

« At the pace of artificial intelligence as it is moving and progressing, much of the lessons will probably be taught in artificial intelligence in terms of distance learning, » the progymnasium director explained.

Only in their lessons artificial intelligence, instead of a teacher, students cannot yet imagine. Says it would be difficult to learn.

« There would be probably pluses and minuses, because artificial intelligence, as you know, is not yet perfect. There are really a lot of things that can be improved. Of course, the teacher has emotions, he can be angry with you, praise, something else, » Augustas Labanauskas said.

« I don’t really imagine lessons would be conducted by artificial intelligence. Because, as Augustus said, there would be no emotions. And the subject would be better to set out a living person, as we perceive ourselves, not as a computer, » the other eighth grade agreed.

Since last year, the municipality started a program for attracting young professionals in Šiauliai, which operates in a similar way to medical professionals. For the commitment to work in the city, the educator receives a cash benefit.

« We are currently providing newly arrivals to the city of EUR 7058 to settle down in the city. This I think is also a great incentive. It should be noted that real estate in Šiauliai is much cheaper than in Vilnius or Kaunas, » noted Šiauliai Vice Mayor.

During the first half of the program, 10 teachers have already used the program in Šiauliai.
