In this Swedish exhibition, Kiki Smith focuses on nature. Her work can be described as intimate studios and fabulous fantasies: Wolves, butterflies, bats and other beings live in braids made by the author. In the large -shaped tapestry, Kiki Smith includes silver threads to create a glittering world. Gobelens are based on almost the same amount of layouts consisting of a multi -layer collage, while the artist uses bronze with inlaid gemstones and porcelain with graphite.

During her career, Kiki Smith has returned to the body, internal organs, sex, gender and birth. At the exhibition, she draws out the world’s gaze – where the relationship is at the center of the cosmic community is the relationship between humans, animals and nature. «  » Art is just a way to think, « said Kiki Smith. This exhibition allows us to carefully follow her thoughts – how she transforms, develops and inhabits her visual idiom, » emphasizes Elizabeth Milkvist, director of the Malme Museum of Modern Art. Kiki Smith is constantly studying new techniques. The tapestries on display at the exhibition are designed in computerized jacquard looms, which allow you to create a complex color palette using a large number of wiring threads. Kiki Smith compares weaving with graphics – this is a way to back up motives and create different variations.

Since the 70s of the 20th century, Kiki Smith’s works have been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art in New York, Gallery Whitechapel In London, at the Seoul Museum of Art (Semi) and the Muniches Haus der Kunst.

Exhibition Woven world It has already been on view at the Montenegrin Museum of Contemporary Art. It will be open until October 12.
