30 years ago, Alta’s role as a host municipality for HV-17 was scaled sharply, despite strong historical roots, both military and civilian.

The Alta battalion sounds in the ears of most after the efforts during the 22nd World War, where the entire surrounding area contributed greatly. We also think about the resistance of the Ida and Lyra group, which contributed greatly to Tirpitz getting its trajectory in Kåfjord.

It is no secret that there was great disappointment in the village when the downturn was a fact, although the support for Porsangmoen as a defense municipality in Finnmark has been wholeheartedly from Alta’s side all the way.

One excludes in the other, so we think that cooperation and community will be exceptionally important in the future.

In addition to considerable expertise in several areas, Alta has had a mobilization power of the rare when it comes to civilian efforts if needed. In addition to strengthening HV, Alta’s role as a growth center makes it natural to think about the recruitment of the planned Finnmark brigade.

It is one of the reasons why we have great difficulty understanding the unwillingness of political leaders to strengthen Alta’s health services within specialist health services.
