The interlocutors mentioned suspect that the robbers were a dark -colored VW Golf 5, whose license plates, as it turned out, were stolen, could have fallen to Lithuania or Estonia. According to representatives of Baltic Watches, Latvian law enforcement investigating the incident does not exclude the possibility that the robbery was carefully planned.

On the day of the incident, Latvian police officers immediately opened the search for suspects. A special plan « trap » was activated. As a result, some parts of Riga were disturbed by traffic. The special plan was later canceled. However, the police continue to work in reinforced mode using other search methods.

« We received various information from citizens, including Latvians living abroad, about the possible identity of the people looking for, » said Raimondas Kronberg, Chief of the Criminal Police Department of the Riga Regional Directorate, on the Latvian television show « Morning Panorama ».
