Routes with history and scenic experiences

In Ribe, Denmark’s oldest city, the route goes through the beautiful old streets of the city, where participants start at the cathedral and experience the wings of history from the first step. In Viborg, the participants get the pleasure of moving through the iconic old districts and along Søndersø, while Horsens presents routes that pass, among other things, past Denmark’s widest pedestrian street, the Industrial Museum and the prison, where the trip takes place both outside and inside doors.

In Korsør, the start is at the Harbor Square, where the water and the view of the Great Belt Bridge and the city’s naval station can be enjoyed, while Copenhagen this year gets a starting area at Kongens Nytorv, and ends the Royal Run with a spectacular target portal in the colonnade at Amalienborg.

Royal Run took place for the first time in 2018 on the occasion of HM King’s 50th birthday. Since then, the exercise event has taken place 2nd Pentecost every year.

In 2025, Royal Run will be held on 2nd Pentecost, June 9, 2025, in Ribe, Viborg, Horsens, Korsør and Copenhagen/Frederiksberg.

The Royal Run is arranged by the Sports Vision Move for Life, and behind it stands DIF, DGI and Danish Athletics. TV 2 and the TV 2 regions are media partner at the Royal Run, and TrygFonden, the Nordea Foundation and the Novo Nordisk Foundation are strategic partners.
