Are abstinents on the side of students and how many are they? – Politics

What is the student’s protest touring months backwards « Door to the door » through Serbia is that not only converted voters of the Serbian advanced party regime but also those indecided, so-called abstinents.

This is multiplied by numerous impressions and testimonies from the field.

Such is the impression of the public, although there are no clear and precise public opinion polls. They fell silent very quickly after turning out that students could get more than 300,000 citizens and citizens at Belgrade’s streets.

As was the case 15. Marta.

It would be expected that published public opinion polls will only then « bounce », but it does not happen.

One of those related to abstinents, and it was published, even three years ago, he talks about the average Serbian abstinent. It is also described by gender and in the existential situation, but, especially, regarding the year, includes exactly what is recognized and leading against the Mode of Aleksandar Vučić and performing the revolution.

Let’s quote it:

A man under 30 years old, a student or the richest layer of citizens, thus seems to be the average election turnout, and these are students between 18 and 30 years of age and citizens with minimum expansion (eight years and less) The year of school, showed research of national coalitions for decentralization.

If something obvious from the previous six months is that they « stood up our children », as well as that the fight against the regime is fierce in Vojvodina.

According to this research, made on a sample of 1,240 respondents, the most abstinents, traditionally, has among young people aged 18 to 30.

Pourments and students who make up as much as 63 percent of abstinents do not usually exit the elections.

Almost every other abstinent 42 percent of the age of 30, 37 percent of them are citizens with more money than necessary for life and 33 percent of them are from Vojvodina.

Today’s interlocutors, public opinion researchers, however, have a distinct skepticality in relation to the question of whether students and his list « draw » on the polls of abstinent.

They express doubt in a large number of abstinents that could drastically affect the result of possible early elections in favor of the student list.

« Let’s avoid mystifications »

Perhaps one of the most important consequences of this student protest is the animation of one part of the abstinent population, for many years, he has made an entrepreneurate and crucial advantage to the regime – says Djordje Vukadinović, the editor of the new Serbian political thought and the political analyst.

But with that in a relationship, it says further, you should keep several important remarks in mind, to avoid mystifications.

– These abstinents do not have « 41 percent », as sometimes it runs throughout the media and as one of the students in the last « impression of the week » said. That is due to the state of the polling list, and for other reasons, you cannot take the number of items from the total number of enrolled in the election, so the residue counts as « abstinents » – explains the interlocutor of Danas.

Therefore, abstinents, realistically, it has about 20 percent, points out, and maybe only half of them are to fight and which, under certain conditions, may be able to disrupt the strength so far.

– And they can perform a positive atmosphere in the elections and – first of all – faith in that exit is not meaningless and that it can change something. And that is what students, in the optimal variant, could contribute positively – primarily within their own and, in general, within their own. The younger generations, which is exactly the one that until these last events, was politically very passive and went out in the persuasive percentage of elections – Djordinović concludes.

« In essence, voluntary abstinents do not have many »

According to Bojan Klačača, the executive director of the Center for Free Elections and Democracy, and certainly cannot be precise, in the interpretation of the potential consequences of the abstinent, or when it will be, and even less is known how this list seems to look like that list.

– What needs to know at the beginning that abstinents can be forced (those currently located outside the country or cannot for some administrative reasons) and voluntary. In essence, good abstinents do not have much and turnout is great, if the number of people living in the diaspora are known. When it comes out over 50 percent in Serbia in the election, it is over 60 percent in reality, if not more. So the abstinent category that may be overestimated than there is its potential in reality – the slaughterstroke points out.

As it adds, that is why I believe that the main question is to how successful in motivation, under one opponents of government and government policies will, and under two of these opponents will be willing to vote for only one list.

– The chances of success are reduced if there are more options for which the opponents of the SNS can vote. Thus, for students, it is most important to reduce the number of opposition lists and to be confident enough that they are the right choice for all former opposition voters. Therefore, it is necessary for the opposition to be involved in some way, so that students would not lose their support from some dissatisfied supporters of opposition parties. The campaign is used to mobilize and motivation of voters, but it is too early to predict what a student campaign will look like – concludes a bojan slaughter.
