Archbishop Hieronymus for Pope Francis: In Greece we will always remember him for his generosity
A condolence message about the event of the Spiritual Leader of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, was sent by Archbishop Hieronymos.
Archbishop Hieronymus stood « respect for both the Church of Greece and for the Greeks and Greece », his « exemplary generosity of the Parthenon marbles », but also his contribution to the dialogue of the churches.
In detail his message:
« With great regret we express the greatest warm condolences to the death of the Panagiotis deceased Pope Francis, participating in the sadness and mourning of Christians across the earth. He was a powerful personality, who devoted himself to the prevalence of all the good and values of man, as the creature of God.
Throughout the ministry of every humble brother, poor, immigrant, refugee, he held a central position.
With great emotion we maintain in our hearts all that we have experienced during the two visits of the late Pope to our country, which in themselves demonstrate the love and respect it fed for both the Church of Greece and for the Greeks and Greece. Indeed, we will always remember him in Greece for his exemplary generosity about the Parthenon marbles and the offer of three fragments, coming from the Parthenon, which are kept the Vatican museums.
His contribution to the sincere dialogue between the churches and his anxiety about the unity of all were the key pillars of his pastoral activity throughout his papal term.
Let his memory be eternal. «
