Archaeologists have made an important discovery in Jordan related to Pharaoh Ramses III

The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Jordan Lina Anab has announced a new archeological discovery on Saturday in the southeastern part of the Vadi Rum Reserve, in South Jordan, writes « Xinhua ».

The discovery is a hieroglyphic inscription with a seal belonging to the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses Third (around 1184 BC – 1153 BC).

Anab explained that this is the first such inscription ever found in Jordan, which serves as material evidence of the historical ties between ancient Egypt and Jordan, as well as with the entire Arab Peninsula.

Archaeologists in Egypt surprisingly discovered drawings from the temple of Queen Hatshepsut

« Jordan is like an open -air library with a very rich inheritance of inscriptions, » she said, adding that this hieroglyphic discovery offers a new perspective on the country’s written heritage.

The Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Howas emphasized the importance of the discovery, which included two cartridges (an oval with the name of Pharaoh – ed.) With the name of Ramses third – one with his birth name and the other by his throne name, declaring him the ruler of Upper and Lower Egypt.

Finding the name of Ramses Third in South Jordan is of great importance and can lead to more important revelations about the historical ties between Jordan and Egypt, dating back more than 3000 years, Howas said.
