Archaeological vestiges from the Dacian period sold to Talcioc with 3 lei a piece

The local police from the Intervention Service announced that they found, on Sunday, in Talcioc, a woman who offered for sale, with prices ranging between 3 and 5 lei a piece, archaeological remains from the Dacian period, which are supposed to be from the Băiceni area.

The general director of the Local Police, Liviu Zanfirescu, said, for Agerpresthat the woman was taken to Section 6 of the Iași Municipality Police to continue the investigations, after being found in Talcioc selling several dozen artifacts as being from the Dacian period in the Băiceni area, Cucuteni commune.

According to Zanfirescu, it would be about fragments specifically inscribed to museums, some of them being kept in a car coat.

‘Today in the morning (Sunday), one of the police officers from Services Intervention has noticed that a woman of about 50 years offered for sale various granite stones, marble, Dacian ceramics. Our colleague pointed out that each pebble had an inscription with the same handwritten, just as in the exhibits that are found in the profile museums. He asked that person as he sells those stones. It was replied that between 3 and 5 lei. The local policeman thought that something is not right and led that person to the Police 6 Section, « explained Liviu Zanfirescu.

He completed that the investigation, most likely, will be done by the Criminal Investigation Service within the IPJ Iași.

‘The person motivated that he has those stones, 38 in number, from a person to whom he was cleaning. It is certain that such vestiges had nothing to do in a talc. They can come either from a museum, from a collection, from a university, « stressed the general director of the Iași Local Police.
