The month of April was warmer, dryer and sunny than normal. The RMI reports this on Thursday in a climatic overview. On April 12, the earliest first summer day (25 degrees Celsius or more) was determined since the start of the observations in 1892.

The majority of the month were the temperatures in Uccle above normal values. With 12.3 degrees Celsius, the final average monthly temperature is almost two degrees above normal value (10.4 degrees Celsius). The highest maximum temperature was registered on Wednesday in Néchin, Henaut’s Néchin (Estitheuis): 28.3 degrees.
In April there was barely 20 mm precipitation in Uccle (normal: 46.7 mm), spread over seven days (normal: 13.2 days). There was no precipitation at all between 1 and 10 April. That is the third time for the current reference period (from 1991) and the fifth time for the entire period from 1892. In most of our country, the monthly precipitation totals lay under the normal expectation.
In addition to being dry, the first ten days of April were also exceptionally sunny. The sun was shining in Uccle for more than 116 hours, more than twice as much as normal (54 hours 15 minutes). That was the sunniest beginning of April since the start of those observations in 1931. The previous record dates from 2002 (104 hours 55 minutes). In total, more than 248 hours of sunshine were counted in Uccle, compared to the normal expectation of just over 171 hours. This made it the third sunny April month of the current reference period, after 2007 and 2020.
