The artist António Colaço ‘set up’ a chaimite, in honor of April 25, with « art missiles » against the wars.

« Word », which brings together Word and April, is the name with which António Colaço baptized the chaimite that, in 2019, was exposed in front of the Assembly of the Republic in honor of April 25, 1974, to the « April Captains » and to remind the day of « liberation of the darled word ».

Chaimite, transformed by the artist and former press officer of the PS, is now in a draft of Mação, district of Santarém, where António Colaço is natural.

The combat car is ‘armed’ with paper straws, painted, caligrated and red carnations.

Speaking to Lusa agency, the artist said he believed that « it is up to art to take part in combating the dangers that democracy faces. »

António Colaço explained that he wanted to create the profile as an « interventionist and denunciator instrument of the dangers that lurk the dictatorial drifting of Trump and those that drag on his sink, Putin and Elon Musk. »

Another particularity of the work is that the artist took advantage of the paper roll straws to Marquesa – from a physiotherapy clinic that he frequents after having a stroke – which, thus, instead of going to the trash, were painted and caligrated.

These card missiles, according to Lusa agency, will be placed inside an acrylic, transparent, « straws, caligrated box, as if carrying words », symbolizing « messages of peace with which war is made to the advertised and murderer war. »

‘Profile’ was the form of António Colaço, himself of April, to pay tribute to the « glorious date », the day of « liberation of the darled word » on April 25, 1974.
