The 105th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which is the symbol of the struggle for independence and sovereignty of the Turkish nation, and the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, which the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gave to the children of the world, is celebrated with enthusiastic ceremonies in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Within the scope of the feast celebrations, a ceremony was held in front of the Nicosia Atatürk Monument in the morning. The ceremony, President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üsel, President of the Supreme Court Bertan Özerdağ, 2nd President Mehmet Ali Talat, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Ali Murat Başçeri, KTBK Commander Major General Sebahattin Kılınç, GKK Commander Major General İlker Görgülü, Main Opposition CTP General President Tufan Erhürman, Political and Organization, Various Party and Organization. Association officials and citizens attended.

The ceremony began with the presentation of the wreaths to the Atatürk Monument according to the protocol order. Then, a silence was held and the flags were sent to the ship with the National Anthem.

Tatar: “This consciousness of sovereignty lies on the basis of the two -state politics carried out today”

President Ersin Tatar, in his speech at the ceremony, drawing attention to the importance of sovereignty and national will, the basis of the two -state politics carried out today, this consciousness of sovereignty lies, he said.

Emphasizing that April 23 is a meaningful feast dedicated to both children and the sovereignty of the Turkish nation, Tatar said that they were honored to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the National Sovereignty and Children’s Day in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

In his speech, Tatar reminded the promise of “sovereignty, unconditional nation ,, and the Turkish nation refused to live under the bondage of other nations throughout history, said that he struggled with determination for the sake of independence. Tatar said that this struggle started with the War of Independence and crowned with the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the proclamation of the Republic.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people also follow these processes closely, Tatar said that despite the oppressive conditions of the British colonial administration, the Atatürk revolutions were adopted and implemented in these lands. Tatar stressed that the people are trying to raise generations of contemporary, nationalist and connected to the homeland with Kemalist thought.

Stating that the struggle before 1974, the 20 July 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and the aftermath of the structure of the Turkish Cypriot people’s own sovereignty will be the result of the will of the will of the Tatar, the Turkish Cypriot people walked in the footsteps of Atatürk and said that the young generations will be raised with this consciousness.

Tatar, who celebrated the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day of all the people, ended his speech by saying, “I remember the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his friends and our martyrs who gave life for this cause with mercy and gratitude”.
