Skopje Court of Appeal rejected as unfounded appeals by some of the defendants in the « Laskarci » case related to the 2019 bus accident that killed 16 passengers and injured more than 30, while partially upheld the complaint of the Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office, in a manner in a way that On the firm’s transport responsible, Ramsey Miftari from six to ten years, and five to seven years in prison by two employees at the Technical Review Station, Igor Gjorgjievski and Goran Dukovski.

In the verdict, which was announced last January, the defendants were found guilty and received a total of 39 years in prison.

Defendant Durmish Beluli, owner of Durmo Tours, was sentenced to four years in prison for transporting company Ramsey Miftari to six years in prison, and the three employees at the Technical Invention Station, Igor Gjorgjievski, The driver of the bus, Manoil Trifunovski, received the biggest prison sentence of 14 years. At the same time, the defendants were also prohibited from pursuing a profession and duty for a duration of five years.

According to the verdict, defendants Durmish Beluli and Ramsey Miftari did not comply with security regulations, allowing a technically defective bus to take part in traffic, which caused the life of the passengers. The three staff at the Technical Review Station, Igor Gjorgjievski, Goran Dukovski and Jane Bovarovski, allowed the bus to pass a technical inspection despite the malfunctions. Driver Manoil Trifunovski, aware of the malfunction of the vehicle, drove the bus with 55 passengers and hit the metal fence due to carelessness.
