APAVT states that TAP creates “market distortions”
The Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) criticized TAP campaign on Wednesday that allows you to buy airline tickets at three interest without interest. APAVT argues that it creates “market distortions”.
« Once again, TAP preferred to create market distortions, preventing consumer’s freedom of choice, reducing the end customer’s options regarding the station, when buying an airplane ticket, » the association says in a statement.
In the document, quoted by Lusa agency, travel agencies say they are surprised by this option “just be accepted in direct sale”, not being allowed the same type of purchase modality.
APAVT regrets that it has not been informed of this decision that, in its view, represents a “obvious strategic option of removal and even conflict” with travel agencies.
TAP announced last week the possibility of buying tickets through a system of three interest without interest – ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’, through the Klarna Network.
Travel agencies, which cannot currently resort to this type of payment, recall that the adoption of the measure “comes at a time when airlines have imposed” a 10 -day reduction in average payment times.
