Apartments on gasoline at Birkimel
The development of residential property on gas stations in Reykjavik continues. Now the series has come to the plot of Orkunn, formerly Skeljungur, with Birkimel.
This will undoubtedly be sought after apartments, in the vicinity of the National Library, Edda, Hotel Saga, Melaskóli and the University Cinema. The Environment and Planning Council was assigned to settle the matter.
In the presentation of a new land development plan, which is prepared by the Architectural Office Nordic Office of Architecture, it is stated that the size of the plot is 1,452 square meters and the building block is 880 sqm. It is planned to build a 4-5 storey house with 42 apartments of various sizes and types. The building will be broken up and divided into three parts that will be stolen and will be offset along Birkimel, as stated in the presentation. It contains computer images that show draft appearance.
The building volume above will be 4,120 sqm and underground 1,452 sqm, or a total of 5,572 square meters. The common central roof balcony will be 222 sqm. Now there is one house on the site, 100 square meters of gas station and restaurant. The house will be removed as well as gasoline pumps. The utilization rate will be from 0.05 to 3.84.
At this location at Birkimelinn, gasoline has been sold for decades. That time is over.
