Antonio K. got 25 years for the murder of a mother: an unhappy woman called the police 15 days earlier

Antonio K. (29), when the verdict becomes final, will remain behind bars for 25 years, until his 54th year. After that, he will spend another three years under surveillance as part of a security protective measure.

The judge of the Zagreb County Court ruled, and he did not appear on the reading of the verdict because he stated at the last hearing that he did not want to be brought to court. According to the verdict, Antonio K. was guilty of on May 4, 2024 in the morning, on the ground floor of the house where he lived with his mother (68), entered her room and while lying, attacked her with a knife of a blade of 8 and a half inches long.

The experts found that he was trying to prevent her from defending himself as he gave her five stab wounds in her neck. He put her hand over her face that she couldn’t scream or breathe. The unhappy woman still defended herself, and gained seven more wounds on her hands. She passed away in place. After the crime, he changed himself and went to the cafe where he reported to two friends. He sent both messages telling them that he had killed his mother, but as ‘for a long time he was weird’, they thought he was rebelling. One called him, so Antonio K. told him:

– D*, it’s done! I gathered a little while at last. I solved the old one … I’m waiting for someone to clean it … lying on the bed and it’s all bloody, ”he said.

Friends contacted each other, one then reported everything to his father, otherwise a police officer, who told them to call 192, in case this one was not a rebellion. While one called 192, another friend went to the house where the unhappy woman lived with the perpetrator. The shutters were lowered, which was not common, and the room where the victim lay, locked. The police had to enter the apartment violently. In Antonia K. room, they found the lower part of the tracksuit he wore during the murder, soaked in blood. In the bathroom, on the cabinet, they found a knife with a blood of an unfortunate victim and a towel also soaked in blood. But there was no blood of the killer or fingerprint on the knife, which his defender has been officially problematized during the trial, and it will also be based on the appeal.

When they arrested him, he did not resist, and they found his mother’s blood on his head as well as traces of her bottom under the nails of his right hand. When the testimony of witnesses, his friends and aunts, cousin and her boyfriend who live on the floor of the house, the court concluded that he was undoubtedly guilty. At the time of the murder, he was reduced to counting, but not enough to know what he was doing.

Police intervened before

His aunt testified that her sister confided in Antonio K. insulting her, calling her home, furniture, pounding and produces non -adortical sounds. On the contrary, she says she heard it at least once a week. The same is the same as her daughter and her boyfriend, who all live in the same house where the killer and victim lived. But neither they nor the neighbors never saw that he had physically assaulted her. Aunt said her sister confided that in 2020 he pushed her in an attack of anger and fell, and then she was forcibly hospitalized, but the documentation says the attack was ‘just’ Verbalan. There is also a report from April 19, 2024, 15 days before the murder, when the victim called the police and said that the son was attacking her. Police went out to the field, found that there were no elements of a crime, and they talked to the killer’s mother. The record states that no one felt like a victim then. Therefore, the judgment stated in the verdict that the unhappy woman Antonio K. was attacked verbally, which still belongs to the abuse, but not physically.

The judge said in the reasoning of the verdict that he had killed a close person, that he had been punished by misdemeanor for verbal abuse of his mother, that he was extremely persistent and had a direct intention to kill her.

He is exempt from the payment of court costs because he is unemployed, without receiving and without property.
