Answer to submitter. Some of us get safer in traffic with headphones
Reply to Gjalt Koopmans that wants to ban headphones in traffic:
Using headphones that shut out the soundscape (which tells where the sounds come from) in traffic is a necessity for me. The sounds become too intense and the soundscape crashes completely.
Sometimes sound hurts like a sharp rush in the head down towards the jaw. All in all, this causes that I cannot determine where the sounds come from or how close what causes sound is in relation to my body.
The sound chaos may result in That I get very insecure and scared and dare not take me around if I can’t find anyone to follow. I was born with this sensitivity and choose to relate to sensitivity in the ways that work, take responsibility for sensitivity in the ways possible.
I reduce the stress with headphones and use vision as the main mind for gathering information from the surroundings. The headphones make me safer in traffic and the risk that I and my fellow human beings suffer an accident caused by me decreases significantly.
We humans collect information from the outside world in different ways, with our different senses, and create different strategies to be able to relate to the intensity of the reality in which we live. Sound is my Achilles heel and headphones my strategy. However, I love my sensitive ears, the most beautiful sounds give me shivers throughout the body and create happy feelings.
To ban headphones In traffic would be very stupid. I would do much worse and my presence in traffic will be a greater risk to others and for myself.
