Answer to submitter. Northern and southern Stockholm should have been built together
There is really a difference between places and neighborhoods in our country. Some are rarely sought after, desirable with sky -high condominium prices, while others are sometimes empty apartments.
Opposing these differences is important, not least for urban planners.
With the cold, ugly gigantic wall between the Old Town and Södermalm, a difference is marked, whether you want it or not. Sure, there are some sought-after parts in southern Stockholm and terrible suburban environments in the north, but how the sought after districts are, it often follows a north-south division.
In the inner city We have Södermalm and Östermalm on each side. Just outside the inner city we have Hammarby and Stocksund, a little further out we have Rågsved and Djursholm respectively.
I do not think that the construction workers or politicians have meant to mark class differences in town. It just has not been observed which separator the wall at the new Slussen de facto has become.
Instead, the city should have been built together here. Now the southern parts are separated from the north, right here. And it’s really not just a imagined wall with « a pretty nice staircase » – for me it is a horrific ugly separator.
