Answer to submitter. Church’s rape on the forest must have an end

IN a submitter I have questioned why the Center Party, and thus indirect the National Farmers’ Association, has gained such a great influence on how the Swedish Church’s forests are managed. Power is exercised through property committees in the 13 pins. The chairman is often an active center party. Sverker Lidén writes in an answer that the pins in this way should have power over the forests and forestry.

The battle for the church’s forests is not just about politics, but also concerns how the church is organized. I argue that the Center Party and the Property Boards, in addition to obtaining revenue, have as unspoken goals to deliver wood to the industry at all costs. This is contrary to the overall goals of the church.

Lidén advocates Status quo, continued decentralization. It may increase efficiency, but does not mean that is free to do as you please, especially if you work in a way that is in obvious conflict with the basic goals of the business. Thus, the pins can not do as they please. It is absurd and obviously counterproductive!

According to The Swedish Church’s website The goal is as follows: « As a Christian congregation, we want to be a natural part of the lives of the parishioners and be able to respond to the various needs that exist today and in the future. » The church must therefore respond to the needs of the members. Without parishioners, the business dies. If the members question the church’s « Vandel » due to current forestry, it is devastating.

The award -winning ecologist Johan Nitare says in DN 2/3 2023: « Kalhydbruket has caused the largest environmental degradation in Sweden ever. It is a rape on the forest land. » This is precisely this that the Swedish Church today contributes to.

When Göran Enander presented the church’s forest investigation It turns out that those who manage the forests, property committees and the diocesan hunters have appointed their own investigation to disaved his proposal, in addition with researchers who are known to attend the Forest Industry’s cases. A palace revolution! They complain that the proposal gives reduced revenue. Biologist and author Stefan Edman writes in the church newspaper: « The investigation shows that the income from forestry decreases in the order of 25 percent. This decrease is only 0.4 percent of the Swedish Church’s total annual revenue. » Only 0.4 percent!

Enander, in addition to designing a new road for forestry, has also contributed to elucidating built -in contradictions in the administration of the church. Properly handled, it will be possible to develop both the Swedish Church and its economy and forestry. In this, Lidén adds nothing new.

It would be regrettable if the good approach were to be arranged due to politicization and an unclear organization. There is much to gain from trying. The time is ripe for the church to go ahead and show the rest of Swedish forestry that there are new more profitable ways to conduct forestry. It would not respect the public.
