Answer: Sweden should loudly and loudly take a stand against Putin
It is distressing to see what these times of concern wash forward. Stig Forslund writes in an answer on a submitter By Per Kågeson that he both wants to eat the cake and keep it. He admits that US President Donald Trump is a threat to the North American (if not all Western) democracy and that we should hold, and even increase, our military support for Ukraine. But, then he is evident that « the Swedish government and the official Sweden, including people from the Armed Forces and the media » speak a little unnecessarily highly about some of the biggest threats to the prevailing world order during this generation.
Support and defend, of course, but can’t you secretly do it, so you don’t get into these terrible men’s sight?
It is the cow’s logic, and the coward’s actions. He argues that there is no gain in this trumpeting (excuse the word choice), that screams from such a small nation as Sweden will never affect the easily offended gentlemen in Washington and Moscow in the right direction. Better, as a military small state dependent on its solidarous neighbors, crunch and crush, whisper and crawl.
It is an interesting ways of expressing oneself, as it is precisely just for these solidar neighbors’ ears that we speak, not to affect obviously bloodthirsty and power -mad despots. In order for our neighbors to want to be solidarity with us, we must show that we are willing to be the same with them. Europe is watching while Ukraine is sacrificed during the Russian slack for the sake of democracy. With weapons and money, we buy ourselves free from our bad conscience, and hope for God’s sake that we are not next in line.
Even more important than the equipment is moral. Ukraine is inferior to Russia on most fronts, but their fighting glow is enormously much larger than something the Russian has succeeded. It is so when you fight for your survival. In order for them to be able to hold, in order for them to continue to fight, Europe needs to assist there too, to show high and clear that we are with them, all the way. The same applies to our neighboring countries, if the conflict were to grow further.
We cannot hide behind a hope that Finland, Estonia and Latvia will spill blood for our sake if we have at the same time crushed ourselves in the hope that Putin will turn on someone else first. Moscow is looking for cracks in European cohesion, they have done for a long time and new pressure is constantly happening. Time and again we are united, but it is not in anyone’s interest to take this for granted. Cohesion lasts as long as we hold together.
Stig Forslund writes It itself, the Russian would never be fooled by our possible mosquito, however, it would be a breeding ground for doubt and doubt among our allies. And that, if anything, opens us to Russian hostilities.
Personally, I see myself as a pacifist, in principle and in action. Peace is always the best path to increased well -being and prosperity for everyone. But peace at any price is not a true peace, and peace where one party can clamp straight above another without consequence is oppression.
I become desperate when you see expressions of this type of pussy, whether it comes from Stig Forslund or organizations like Swedish Peace. If you look away when a bully practices violence on someone less, then you yourself are just as much bully, just as much violence. Sweden knows better, we should stand up and clearly take a stand for democracy. Loud and sound.
