Another hitter record: last month the Warmest March ever measured in Europe
Last month, March 2025, the Warmest March in Europe ever was measured on average. This is reported by European climate service Copernicus a press release. Worldwide there was only a month of March Warmer, in record year 2024. The measurements of the organization go back to 1940.
The average temperature last month in Europe was 6.03 degrees. That is 2.41 degrees above the average of the period between 1991 and 2020. « March 2025 was the hottest in Europe, which again demonstrates how temperatures continue to break records, » writes Samantha Burgess of the European medium-distance weather forecast (ECMWF), a European climate NGO.
« Many areas experienced the driest March and others the wettest in at least 47 years, » said Burgess. Even in the Netherlands there was the same amount last month natural fires As in the whole of 2024, due to the persistent drought and wind.

In particular in Eastern Europe and Southwest Russia, higher temperatures were measured than normal. Outside of Europe, the temperature was highest above the average in the Canadian Arctic Islands and in the Baffin bay, between Canada and Greenland.
Last January, Climate Service Copernicus announced that 2024 worldwide was the Warmest Year ever measured. The global average temperature was 1.6 degrees higher than for the industrial era. As a result, it was on average more than 1.5 degrees higher worldwide – a critical limit in the Paris climate agreement.
