Another approach is valid in Aarhus: « People want residential housing »
Bragi Bjarnason, mayor of Aarhus, says that in the municipality there is a clear demand for special housing and that the focus is therefore not on homogeneous apartment building, as in some other municipalities.
In a day’s interview, Bragi reviews the position and turnaround in the municipality’s operations. There he also discussed the future development of housing in Aarhus.
Compared to other municipalities, where the vast majority of new housing will be in apartments – such as in Reykjavik and Reykjanesbær, where over 90% of the expected development will be in apartment buildings – Bragi says that another approach is valid in Aarhus.
« We want to have this mixed.
Try to increase plots for villas and semi -detached
He points out that apartments have certainly increased, but that the goal is to maintain a balance in housing development.
« We are rather trying to increase villas, larger semi -detached houses, so that families who are expanding and need to expand have the potential for it too, » says Bragi.
