Another 18 Ukrainian soldiers / day were admitted to the Eastern Hospital

Since the start of the war, RAKUS has already been hosted by 452 Ukrainian soldiers.

Patients were hospitalized by doctors of various specialties and care staff from the Emergency Medicine and Patient Admission Clinic (NMPUK), including the chairman of the board of the hospital Normunds Staņēvičs and the Ambassador of Ukraine in Latvia Anatoly Kutsevol.

All patients who came from Ukraine performed a comprehensive assessment of a health condition, including a variety of laboratory examination.

In the War, treatment of patients in the Eastern Hospital is always carried out as a collaboration involved in many profile doctors – traumatologists, surgeons, microsurgeons, infectologists, physical and rehabilitation medical doctors, physiotherapists, ergotherapists, radiologists and laboratory specialists.

This time, three very serious war injuries will be treated in specialized clinics at Eastern Hospital. The victims will treat surgeon Andris Vikmanis, Eugene Movchan and Christian Alpe at the Traumatology and Orthopedic Clinic. Soldiers will undergo several complex and successive surgery in several stages. Following these complicated and severe war injury operations with victims, physiotherapists, ergotherapists, rehabilitologists and functional specialists will work.

The other victims, on the other hand, will go to other Latvian medical institutions after examinations, depending on the specificity of the consequences of the injuries. One patient is expected to continue treatment at the Traumatology and Orthopedic Hospital, and six patients will be transferred to the National Rehabilitation Center « Vaivari » and eight patients to the rehabilitation center « Jaunķemeri ».

Several victims of the Emergency Radiology Unit performed additional radiological examinations to clarify the condition of the injuries.

Each patient was taken at least ten different analysis samples tested for at least 27 different parameters in the RAKUS laboratory service, including the possible presence of multidrug -resistant infections, as they are rapidly flammable and spreading.

Patients affected by the Ukrainian War to the Eastern Hospital are removed thanks to the private initiative of the charity project « M-Help.com » founder Arvja Root and Martins Meder. The Georgia Logvinsky Charity Fund, which operates in Ukraine, has equipped and rebuilt the bus providing the transport of these patients.
