Annunciation is: Christians worship the mother and her care for children
Christians celebrate today the Annunciation – the day on which Archangel Gabriel tells the Virgin Mary that he will give birth to the Son of God. The holiday is among the most important of the year and is noted by both Orthodox and Catholics and Protestants.
The event was described in the gospel of the onion as follows: « And by the sixth month, Angel Gabriel was sent by the god to the Galilee city named Nazareth at a virgin, engaged to a man, named Joseph, from the house of the blessing; He saw, disturbed by his words and thought about what this greeting was.
And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mariam, because you found grace in God; And behold, you will conceive in the womb, you will give birth to a son and call him by the name Jesus
He will be great and will be called the son of the Most High; And the Lord God will give him the throne of the Father David; and will reign over the house of Yaakov’s Borders, and his kingdom will not have an end » (Ch. 1, verse 26 – 33).
In the spirit of the biblical tradition, the Annunciation is a day in which Christians worship her mother and her care for children. The icons of the Annunciation are among the most ancient holiday icons. The holiday is one of the big ones during the Lent and therefore the church allows to eat fish.
The coming of spring
In Bulgarian folklore, the holiday is associated with the coming spring and this is reflected in most observed rituals on this day. It is believed that storks, swallows and cuckoo are coming back. Coming from the Jewish lands, they report the good news of the Renaissance of Nature. Winter is gone and spring is coming.
In folklore, the holiday is known as Blagovets, and is often referred to as « half Easter » and is associated with many beliefs: people start new endeavors to go through them during the year; He does not sleep late so that he does not miss his luck; If he hears a cuckoo on this day, one must have steam in his pocket to be rich and happy all year long; If it rains during the day, the year will be fertile.
Many parents choose the holiday to break through the ears of their little girls, as it is believed that it will not hurt them.
