Annual inflation in May in Latvia dropped to 3.6% / day
At the same time, the average consumer price level of 12 months has increased by 2.4%in May.
In May 2025, transport-related goods and services (-0.4 percentage points), as well as food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.1 percentage point), housing-related goods and services (+0.1 percentage point), restaurant and hotel services (+0.1 percentage point for the machine (+0.1 percentage point).
Within a month, food and non -alcoholic beverages rose 0.3%.
The most significant impact on the average price level in this group was coffee (+7.7%), with the increasing prices for minced coffee. Mainly at the end of the shares, dried, salted or smoked meat (+1.9%), sour cream (+4.3%), potatoes (+6.2%), flour and other cereals (+2.6%), olive oil (+5.1%), fresh or chilled fish (+4,5%), as well as eggs (+1.3%) were expensive.
Prices also rose to pork (+2.5%), poultry (+1%), confectionery (+0.8%) and beef (+4.3%).
Prices, on the other hand, fell for fresh vegetables (-10.8%). Cheese and cottage cheese (-1.3%), bread (-0.6%), vegetable oil (-2.7%) and milk (-0.9%) were also cheaper.
For housing -related goods and services, the average monthly price level increased by 0.5%. The most important price increase in this group was housing management services (+1.6%), as well as natural gas (+2.3%). Prices rose to rent housing (+1.4%), heat (+0.3%), home maintenance and repair services (+1.6%), and electricity (+0.1%). In turn, the price fell to solid fuel (-1%).
Prices for housing equipment increased by 1.6%within one month. Under the influence of the shares, home cleaning and care products, non -electrical kitchen utensils and items were more expensive.
Transport -related goods and services became cheaper than 3.1%within a month, which was mainly influenced by the price of fuel prices by 4.8%, including diesel fuel – by 5.7%, gasoline by 4.4%and auto gas by 1.2%. Prices fell for passenger air transport, maintenance and repair of personal vehicles.
The average price level of restaurants and hotel services increased by 2.1%, which was mainly influenced by the rise in hotel services. Fast food services (+1.2%), restaurants and cafe services (+0.3%) were also more expensive.
In other consumption groups, the most significant drop in prices during the month was for complex recreational services, personal hygiene goods and beauty products, but prices increased pharmaceuticals, spirits, tobacco products and wine.
Meanwhile, the biggest impact on average consumer price changes in May 2025, compared to May 2024, was food and non -alcoholic beverages (+2 percentage points), housing -related goods and services (+0.5 percentage points), alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (+0.5 percentage points) percentage points), health care (+0.2 percentage points), restaurant and hotel services (+0.2 percentage points), as well as transport-related goods and services (-0.6 percentage points).
In the group of food and non -alcoholic beverages, prices increased by 7.5%during the year.
Coffee (+34.7%) was the most significant impact on the average price level in this group. Poultry meat (+18.5%), chocolate (+33.2%), fresh fruits (+11%), butter (+25.8%) and eggs (+17.7%) were also more expensive. Prices rose for cheese and cottage cheese (+6.4%), dairy products (+8.5%), dried, salted or smoked meat (+4%), confectionery (+5%), bread (+2.8%), milk (+5.3%), vegetable oil (+13.4%) and beef (+20.2%).
Fresh vegetables (-3.1%), sugar (-20.5%), fresh or chilled fish (-9.1%), as well as flour and other cereals (-3.2%) were cheaper.
The average price level of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 7.3%over the year. Tobacco products increased on average by 12.2%over the year, while alcoholic beverages rose 4.7%, with strong alcoholic beverages, wine and beer.
For housing -related goods and services, the average price level increased by 3.2%over the year.
Electricity (+9.7%) was the most important price increase during the year. More expensive housing management services (+7.6%), natural gas (+10.9%), housing maintenance and repair services (+10.1%), waste collection (+8.9%), home rent (+5.2%), water supply (+6.1%) and sewerage services (+5.3%). In contrast, heat was cheaper (-6.8%).
In the health care group, the average price level increased by 3.7%during the year. More expensive were doctors’ specialist services, dental services, medical analysis laboratories and radiographic centers.
Transport -related goods and services fell 4.2%during the year, which was determined by a 9.9%drop in fuel prices. The price of diesel fuel fell by 12%, gasoline by 12.1%, while auto gas became more expensive by 26.9%. Prices for used cars have also fallen during the year. Prices, on the other hand, increased other services for personal vehicles, maintenance and repair of personal vehicles, tires, passenger transport by train, as well as passenger air transport.
Relaxation and culture -related goods and services rose 5.2%during the year, with the cost of television subscriptions, recreational and sports services, newspapers and magazines, complex recreational services, feed for pet, stationery and drawing accessories, flowers.
The average price level for restaurants and hotel services increased by 4.8%over the year. Feeding services were more expensive, including prices for restaurants and cafe services – by 3.8%, canteen services – by 5.9%and fast food services – by 3.6%. Hotel services also increased during the year.
In other consumer groups, telecommunications services, pre -school education, clothing, shoes, hairdressing and beauty salon services were the most important price increase during the year. Prices, on the other hand, fell personal hygiene goods and beauty products, road insurance.
