Annual inflation in April rose to 3.9% / day in Latvia

At the same time, the average consumer price level has increased by 2.2%in April compared to the previous 12 months.

In April 2025, clothing and shoes (+0.5 percentage points), food and non -alcoholic beverages (+0.3 percentage points), transport related goods and services (+0.2 percentage points), various goods and services (+0.1 percentage point for services (-0.1 percentage point) and for rest and culture-related goods and services (-0.1 percentage point).

Within a month, food and non -alcoholic beverages rose 1.2%.

Mainly due to the conclusion of the shares, coffee (+6.3%) had a significant impact on the average price level. Poultry (+6.3%), eggs (+9.5%), fresh fruits (+2.8%), confectionery (+1.6%), and chocolate (+2.1%) were more expensive. At the end of the shares, prices also rose milk (+3.4%), potatoes (+5.2%), meat products (+2.4%), cheese and cottage cheese (+0.9%), fruit and vegetable juices (+2.5%), vegetable oil (+3.2%).

Prices, on the other hand, fell to fresh vegetables (-2.3%), and the shares were cheaper flour and other cereals (-2.9%), dried, salted or smoked meat (-0.7%), dairy products (-1.2%). Olive oil (-3.6%) was also cheaper.

The average price level of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.5%monthly. Among them, tobacco products increased by an average of 1.1%, while the average price level of alcoholic beverages rose 0.2%, with more expensive alcoholic beverages.

In the clothing and footwear group, prices increased by 9.2%within one month. As the spring -summer season continues to go on sale, clothing prices increased by 6.4%on average and 22%for shoes.

For housing -related goods and services, the average monthly price level decreased by 0.4%. Electricity (-1%), as well as heat (-0.7%), were the most important drop in prices in the group. The shares were also cheaper to maintain and repair the housing (-1.5%), but prices increased for water supply (+1%) and sewerage services (+1%).

Transport -related goods and services became more expensive by 1.6%within a month, which was mainly influenced by the price increase in passenger air transport. Prices for fuel increased by 0.5%, including gasoline by 1.4%, for autogas by 0.2%, while diesel fuel remained unchanged. Passenger transport by train as well as passenger transport by roads also increased.

Leisure and culture -related goods and services fell 0.8%during the month, including flowers, complex recreational services, and personal computers.

The average price level of restaurants and hotel services increased by 1%within one month. Among them, hotel services rose 3.8%over the month, as well as restaurants and cafe services (+0.5%) and canteen services (+1.2%) increased.

In the group of different goods and services, prices increased by 1.8%within one month. Mostly, with the closing of the promotions, personal hygiene goods and beauty products were more expensive.

In other consumption groups, the most important rise in prices in the services of doctors specialists in the month. Prices, on the other hand, fell pharmaceutical products, home cleaning and care products.

The biggest impact on the average consumer price level changes in April 2025, compared to April 2024, was food and non -alcoholic beverages (+1.9 percentage points), alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (+0.6 percentage points), rest and culture -related goods and services (+0.3 percentage points) percentage points), for health care (+0.2 percentage points), housing-related goods and services (+0.2 percentage points), as well as transport-related goods and services (-0.2 percentage points).

In the group of food and non -alcoholic beverages, prices increased by 7.3%during the year.

Coffee (+26.2%) and chocolate (+35.1%) were the most significant impact on the average price level in the group. Poultry meat (+15.2%), butter (+31.1%), fresh fruits (+9.9%), cheese and cottage cheese (+7.6%), eggs (+17.4%), dairy products (+7.7%), fresh vegetables (+4.7%) and pastries (+5.1%) were also more expensive. The price also increased for bread (+2.6%), vegetable oil (+16.8%), milk (+5.5%), dried, salted or smoked meat (+1.9%), canned or processed fish and seafood products (+9.9%), yogurt (+6%) and ice cream (+6.8%).

Prices, on the other hand, fell to sugar (-20.7%), pork (-1.9%), flour and other cereals (-4.2%), as well as fresh or chilled fish (-8.4%).

The average price level of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 8%over the year. Among them, tobacco products increased on average by 14.4%during the year, while alcoholic beverages rose 4.7%, with strong alcoholic beverages, wine and beer.

For housing -related goods and services, the average price level increased by 1.2%over the year. During the year, electricity (+10%) had a significant rise in prices, but housing management services (+7.6%), waste collection (+10.4%), home maintenance and repair services (+9.0%), water supply (+5.9%) housing (+4.6%) Services (+5.1%). In contrast, heat (-9%), natural gas (-9.2%) and solid fuel (-2.1%) were cheaper.

In the health care group, the average price level increased by 3.7%. During the year, the services of doctors, dental services, medical analysis laboratory and radiographic centers were more expensive.

Transport -related goods and services fell 1.3%during the year, which was determined by a 6.4%drop in fuel prices. The price of diesel fuel fell by 8.6%, gasoline by 8.3%, while autogas price increased by 28.5%. During the year, prices for used cars were also falling. Prices, on the other hand, increased passenger air transport, other services for personal vehicles, maintenance and repair of personal vehicles.

Rest and culture -related goods and services rose 5.3%during the year, with a television subscription fee, recreational and sports services, newspapers and magazines, complex recreational services, flowers. Personal computers were cheaper.

Prices in various goods and services increased by 5.4%over the year. Personal hygiene goods and beauty products, staying in the old people’s nursing home, hairdressing and beauty salon services, and personal identification documents fees were the biggest impact on price increases in the group. On the other hand, it was cheaper for road insurance.

Other consumer groups were the most important price increase during the year for catering services, telecommunications services, clothing, home cleaning and care products, pre -school education.
