« Anna-Karin Hat has to take C from nothing to something »
It is a wounded party she takes over. Internal leaks and snipers caused Muharrem Demirok to Throw in the towel. But last year’s dramatic battles in the party top are symptoms rather than cause.
The real problem is that the Center Party has lost voters’ confidence in the politics. The own post -election analysis stated that you never had as few core voters as now.
When the University of Gothenburg took a closer look at the election result in 2022, they saw that the confidence among voters increased for all other parliamentary parties in the most important issues – except for the Center Party that clinched the Jumbo place and instead backed.
To do something For that, Anna-Karin Hatts is the most important task.
Or as a central C source expresses it to DN: « Voters need to associate us with something. »
During the first press conference as proposed new C-leader, Anna-Karin Hatt’s answer comes to what this should be fast:
– Swedish climate policy is cracking. It is one of the biggest challenges of our time and there the Center Party has many of the answers needed, she says.
Center Party, the former alliance Green voice, wants to return to their roots. The difference, when former minister Anna-Karin Hatt makes a comeback in politics, is that C now plays on the same half as MP and V. It can be more difficult to stand out in that constellation, among the parliamentary parties that primarily profiled themselves in the climate and environmental issue.
Now Anna-Karin Hatt is picked directly from the job as CEO of the National Farmers’ Association. Before that, she held the same position with the employers’ organization Almega. She describes herself a close collaboration with the Center Party in both her CEO roles, and that she wants to build bridges between business and politics.
It certainly goes well given that the Center Party jokingly is usually called Almega’s political branch. But if a hat is to succeed as a party leader, she must also build alliances inward.
After being Away for a long time from party politics, a power base is needed in both parliamentary group and party board. There it is sparse with built -up relationships, although she had by far the most nominations from the districts.
With a new party leader, the center dream is to regain previously strong mounts such as Kalmar County, but also to grow in the big cities where most voters are located.
And many people on the outside wonder: which road will Anna-Karin Hat take? Will the party abandon the principle not to cooperate with SD – perhaps the only voters now actually associate with C?
Internally is the choice of road Not as hot substance. The pressure from the districts has settled, and if you ask anyone in the executive committee, party board or parliamentary group, cooperation with SD is close to a non-issue. Among the other possible party leader names that have been balled around, no one should have wanted to see a different line than today’s.
The most important thing now is that the center should go from nothing to anything.
