Andrew Tate in court battles: Under Investigation in Romania, UK and US
Controversial influenzer Andrew Tate reported to police in Romania after returning from the United States, where he was abandoned after his travel ban was lifted.
In front of the Voluntari police station, on the outskirts of Bucharest, the 38-year-old Tate said: I am happy to return to Romania. This is my home, I love Romania very much. I will stay here in the coming weeks, unless I decide otherwise.
He and his brother Tristan Tate, 36, are under investigation in Romania, where they face indictments of trafficking, sexual exploitation and money laundering – claims they categorically deny, Sky News said.
In a separate case, the Romanian prosecution charges the brothers to form a criminal group for women’s sexual exploitation. The case was recently returned to prosecutors for an additional investigation.
The Tate brothers face legal proceedings not only in Romania, but also in the UK and the United States. Expectations are that after the end of the Romanian investigation, they will be extradited to the UK.
Police in Bedfordshire (UK) have issued a European arrest warrant for their arrest, linked to separate charges of rape and trafficking in human beings dating from 2012-2015. Tatts deny any guilt.
In addition, in Florida (USA) a lawsuit was recently filed against the brothers, claiming that they forced a woman to work in the sex industry, deceived her to come to Romania and then slander her after her testimony.
US authorities, according to reports, have launched an investigation into the Tate brothers after their arrival in Florida. The state’s chief prosecutor, James Utmayer, has confirmed that an « active preliminary investigation » is being conducted against them.
The Tate Brothers, who are double British-American nationals, are known for their controversial and often misogyous attitudes, which have a large echo on social networks such as Tiktok and X.
