Andrea Georgiades' art travels to Constantinople
The Istanbul Concept Gallery in Constantinople presents the painting exhibition by Andrea Georgiadis entitled « Mythology II – A Personal Mythology » on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 7pm.
Two years after « Reference to Mr. P. Cavafy », Andreas Georgiadis returns with his fourth solo exhibition in Constantinople to present a personal reading of his world, fragments of memories and experiences, through 24 works, all painted with colored.
The artist's love for Istanbul appears in many of his new works, in which he presents a contemporary view of the city and its people, focusing on its less popular neighborhoods, such as Gihangir, Fatih, Kadikoy, USKUDAR or Yenikoy, where the city is far from the city.
Combining real experiences of his travels to both Istanbul and other destinations, along with fantastic landscapes, Andreas Georgiadis compiles an informal diary of art notes and creates a multi -dimensional personal mythology, where the sites become symbols.
His « personal mythology » is also enriched with memory -painted works, fueled by his imagination and references to literary and cinematic masterpieces of the world repertoire. Texts and images of works by Luigi Pirantello, George Seferis, Kiki Dimoula, Attik Ilhan, Murathan Mungan, Andrei Tarkovsky, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, are creatively approached through the artist's eyes.
Georgiadis' look is not limited to any superficial elements that could easily tell the viewer his origin. Artfully and methodically, he peeled landscapes and faces to reveal the deeper joints and hints of his personal mythology. «
The deliberate absence of titles in the works is a conscious invitation to viewers to enter the artist's world without predetermined interpretations. Each work becomes a mirror for the viewer, activating his own reading and connection to the depth of images.
Andreas Georgiadis was born in Thessaloniki in 1972. He lives and works in Ymittos. He studied painting next to George Rorris, graphic design at the SGTKS. In Athens, and with a scholarship from IKY, an illustration in Orleans – France.
