The Brussels municipality of Anderlecht is introducing a four -day class week to cope with the « dramatic » teacher shortage in municipal primary schools and Dutch -language education. The four-day teaching weeks will start in the 2025-2026 school year at a total of four Dutch-language primary schools in the Brussels municipality. It concerns thirteen, the RAD-De Asters, Scheut and Veeweide. The last two already experimented this school year with a four -day lesson week.

In concrete terms, the initiative of the municipality means that neither the students nor the teachers have to go to school on Wednesday. The lessons start on the other weekdays and end up later.

The municipality is still responsible for reception on Wednesday morning to save working parents extra difficulties.

« We hope that the four -day lesson week will attract new motivated teachers. This way we can continue to guarantee high -quality education to all our students, » said Education Bieke Comer ships.
