Ander Gil, former president of the Senate, leaves politics and begins new stage in the private sector | Spain
The former president of the Senate, the socialist Ander Gilhas announced on Monday his resignation to his minutes as a senator for the province of Burgos to initiate new professional challenges in the private sphere.
He has communicated it in a message posted on his social networks in which he has thanked the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez « for his trust »: « I have renounced the act as senator by the province of Burgos. I conclude an exciting stage in politics to initiate new professional challenges in the private sphere, » he said in X.

In a second message, Gil has attached the letter he has sent to the table of the Upper House in which he underlines his “deep thanks to the Senate of Spain, and each and every one of the men and women who are part of this institution, for their professionalism and for the deal dispensed during my trajectory in this Chamber”. Whatever it was President of the Senate between 2021 and 2023 He stressed that presiding over the upper house « has been an honor that will always accompany me. »
In addition, he has expressed his « most sincere thanks to Burgos citizenship for trust » deposited « to represent him in the Senate for more than a decade, » and pointed out that his « daily motivation » has been « the defense of the interests of Burgos and the rural world. »
Finally, in a repeated paragraph in Basque, Catalan and Galician, Gil has expressed his confidence that the Senate “continues to advance in the defense of the territories of this great country, as well as in the recognition of its linguistic and cultural plurality, from dialogue and consensus, an essential basis to protect state institutions as a pillar of our democracy”.
