He is just a human: Jan de Troij died in Thursday Block. The record holder still won the preliminary round, but had too few letters in the final to guess the word. He goes home with 14,500 euros and the super prize, but returns in June as – perhaps – the best player of the season.
During his fifteenth participation, the Overijsenaar who moved to Antwerp again won the preliminary round (900-280) on Thursday. Although he left a line at the end. It seemed like a wipe sign. Was the concentration less?

The tip in the final game was ‘road surface’, the word ‘paving’ to be guessed. Not so obvious, and certainly not if you don’t have the initial letter and the ‘V’. Jan had to be guilty of all kinds of questions, so there were no letters. « That will never happen to you otherwise, » Ben Crabbé sighed.

« Well, someday it had to stop, » Jan said in a response Gazet van Antwerpen. « I still beat my opponent, but in the final I missed the answer to several questions. Two minutes are quickly over, and the eight -letter word did not come. »
Other feeling
On Tuesday Jan de Troij broke the record of Kiana Buttiens. « When I participated for the fourteenth time on Wednesday, a burden fell off my shoulders: I had bit the record anyway. I am not going to claim that I then left it more on his course, but in those last episodes the feeling was completely different. My goal had been achieved, although it was never the meaning to break that record. »
« In the past few days, people, especially or so many recordings in the long run, will not be tired in the long run, » laughs Jan. « That is not so bad. An episode only takes half an hour, and Ben is talking a lot himself. In one day, four episodes are canned. Before you realize the property, it is already over. You will get through those recordings on adrenaline. Any fatigue has not played a role in my elimination. »
