And pensioners on the streets on 28/2 – call for « oxygen » and « justice at all levels »

In the mobilizations of 28o February for the two -year anniversary of the Railway in Tempe, will be given massive present by pensioners from all corners of the country. At the same time, they are preparing new mobilizations next week, with the edge of the return of the retro and the 13th-14th pension.

Calls to the Rallies for Tempi have been addressed by the largest pension associations in Greece and dozens of local and sectoral clubs. Although as shown by participation in the magnificent concentrations of 26o January, pensioners do not need an official invitation to stand by the families who lost their children in Tempi – since these children could be their own grandchildren.

The Single Network of Pensioners Calls on Tempi Concentrations

Dynamic but peaceful

« Pensioners cannot, should not and will not be missing from this call of memory and struggle, « says the single network of pensioners, calling on pensioners from all over Greece » to give a dynamic but peaceful present at local protest rallies « .

As they write, « retirees will shout a huge NO into any form of concealment, wherever it comes from. The government's responsibilities are enormous and must be attributed. As high as the irresponsible – responsible have to be held accountable. Justice must do its duty. «

Correspondingly, the Federation of IKA Pensioners and Auxiliary Funds of Employees calls on its member unions « to take all necessary measures to be massive-militant the presence of pensioners in rallies and marches on 28 February, against the crime in Tempi ».

As the Federation's announcement writes, in the two years of the « Disgusting Crime of Tempi who died our 57 fellow human beings, mostly young people (…) not only have the guilty have been found and punished, but on the contrary, efforts are being made to conceal ».

They complain that « the policy that puts capitalist profit above all is the main cause of this crime and for other daily crimes against the working people. Profit is what pensioners deprived of « oxygen » to live as we deserve with today's potential. «

On the streets and March

Greece's pensioners who will go down on the streets on Friday to seek « justice at all levels », as Endissy writes, are in turmoil all this time anyway.

One point of friction is the recent ruling of the Supreme Special Court, which appeared unauthorized to decide on the return of retirement retirees on cuts in supplementary pensions and gifts in the 11 months of 2015-2016.

Pensioners are calling for legislation from the government to return retroactively to total 2.5 million pensioners who have suffered cuts, not only at the 370,000 who filed and filed.

At the same time they claim the reset of 13o and 14o Pension, while the Endissy is committed to proceeding with a standard proceedings on the matter, to the competent courts.

Next Friday, March 7, Attica's affiliated pension associations are calling for a rally at the Ministry of Labor at 10am, requiring a political solution on the issue of returning retroactive to gifts and auxiliaries, « as in 2022 that you have rendered a political decision to all the retroactives ».

Two -speed retirees

While pensioners are preparing for new mobilizations, the latest elements of the « Sun » system for 2024, reveal a sad picture of poverty, especially for new private pensioners.

Specifically, as emphasized in today's report on the website of ENDISY, new pensions granted in 2024 for private employees were 36.93% lower than those given to the State.

According to ENDISY, the elements of the « sun » show that the problem has been noticed specifically after 2022, and mainly concerns workers, employees, freelancers and farmers.

They recall that in December 2024, the average expenditure of EFKA pensions (private sector) was 721.47 euros, less than EUR 428.79 or EUR 37.27%, compared to EUR 1,150.26 which was the corresponding average for public sector pensions.

The main reason for the difference is the « freeze » of salaries during the memorandum and the non -payment of benefits (even family). The situation has deteriorated by the freezing of three years for 12 years – from 2012 to 2024 and the inactivation of collective labor agreements, which kept salaries locked at very low levels.

Located salaries and incomes lead to « tip » pensions, both for former employees but also for freelancers and farmers who are now retireing. Responsibilities are also attributed to the previous insurance laws N4387/16 and N4670/20, which have delineated the retirement rates of new pensions at a very low level.

As a result of the specific arrangements, which are best known for the names of the ministers who have introduced them (« Katrougalou » and « Insurance Broutsi »), pensions attributed to new retirees are significantly reduced compared to previous years.
