And Lenin is not so young – Kommersant

On Tuesday, the 155th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Lenin turned out. In the morning, the Communist Party leaders and party members in an organized manner laid flowers to the mausoleum. Because of this solemn ceremony, the entrance to Red Square was blocked. Along the police fences, several hundred activists who were not related to the Communist Party were crowded. They kept red banners and portraits of Ilyich, discussed politics and sang songs. These were not only old people with Soviet icons on the lapels of the jackets and ladies of advanced age in panamas, but also serious adolescents for years. The 14-year-old Sergei-in a black jacket and with a pitch-eater on his head-admitted to Kommersant correspondent that he walked for a school for visiting the mausoleum.

At about 11:30, the leaders of the Communist Party-Gennady Zyuganov, ex-candidate for president Nikolai Kharitonov and other famous party members reached the monument to Zhukov. Having put the flowers to the commander of the commander, Gennady Zyuganov congratulated everyone “on the holiday” and received short applause in response.

The police removed the cordon closer to noon – and a long line was immediately lined up on Red Square. She even blocked the Kremlin passage. People worried that they could not get to Lenin’s body: the mausoleum works only until 13:00. The police had to place metal fences to build a line along the Kremlin wall. In response, the choral performance of the « International » struck. Despite the anniversary, the mausoleum closed exactly on schedule. Not everyone managed to get to Lenin. The next time the mausoleum will open only on May 19.
