And it depends on the size
Until a few days ago, I was firmly convinced that I was familiar with the fruit and vegetable department. In our regions, too, rather unknown fruits – or at least a large part of it – are familiar. Especially because different exotic varieties taste particularly good.
Fruits such as pineapple and coconut give smoothies (and of course cocktails) the last kick. Kakis, dates and physalis are also full of valuable nutrients with which I do something good for my health. Of course, there are also many vitamins in local fruits. But if you suffer from allergies, you are of no use if you struggle to air after consumption.
A tropical fruit of all people gave me the language.

But now such a fruit has ended up with the language. On the shelf I discovered fresh and not crushed Maracujas, which immediately hiked to my shopping basket. But the cashier looked at me at the cash register and asked if these were maracujas or passion fruits. When it became clear to me after a few seconds that she didn’t joke, I tried to explain to her that it was the same. Your answer: « No, with us there are two different varieties ». When I asked her, no less puzzled, she looked just as confused as I was looking for a few seconds ago. She hesitated and finally replied: « The price. Maracujas are much more expensive. »
She couldn’t tell me which variety I had on the tape. But it was clear to me: I had to have the cheaper variety – and with it the cheaper. In retrospect, I found out that the Passion fruit tastes sweeter and is smaller than the maracuja. In the end, the realization remains: So it depends on the size, especially if you want to save money.
From the life of the LW journalists
The “gazettchen” is an informal column in which the authors legally tell about their everyday experiences or even give an insight into their thoughts. This has a long tradition: On December 3, 1946, an opinion with the title « Today » appears for the first time at the top of the side left on the first local side in the « Luxemburger Word ». On January 13, 1971, the « Gazettchen », which has been extremely popular with readers, then became the « gazette », which has kept its Premium-Platz in Luxembourg’s top-class daily newspaper to this day and across all layout.
