An ice cream with caviar? Then you have to be in the new cream of Maarten (30) and Aline (26): « We were immediately sold » (Knokke-Heist)
An ice cream with matcha, sea salt and olive oil or … caviar? It is all on the menu of Crème à l’Aise, the new cream of Maarten Chudzicki (30) and Aline Arnouts (26) in Duinbergen. And you don’t need a bottomless portfolio for that. « We hardly make a profit on it. It is especially a nice twist, » the managers say.
And whether the opening of Crème à l’Aise in the Duinbergenlaan, a stone’s throw from the Zeedijk, did not go unnoticed. Last Friday, customers and curious people were treated to a free scoop of ice cream and beats during a pre-opening. Maarten Chudzicki and Aline Arnouts, also managers of the adjacent Carrefour Express, transformed their old storage room into a brand new ice cream parlor. « In the past, our store from the store was stored here, » says Aline with a grin. « We were able to purchase the building and decided to start a cream. This seemed like the ideal location. »

The couple left nothing to chance and even followed a week -long course at the Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna. There they learned the specific tricks of the trade. « That was quite intensive, but we both had no experience with ice cream and the accompanying techniques. Then you have to do something, » Aline continues. « It is an experience that we now take with us forever and especially to continue in our cream. In just two weeks we have carried out all the works here. It was always our intention to add some nice twists to our offer. Things that do not offer other things. »
Sweet and salt
Ice with mat chas flavor, or sea salt and olive oil as toppings: in cream à l’Aise people dare to experiment clearly. « We chose six classic flavors that will always be available. Think of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. We supplement them with four choices that will vary depending on the season, » it sounds. But the most striking order? That is a ball with a Belgian caviar. One (or more) balls of vanilla are flanked by a game of ten grams. « The idea comes from a restaurant from Antwerp. We were offered this dessert there, » says Aline. « The combination seems strange, but we were sold with one. »

We were allowed to taste and approve the delicacy. The soft and sweet of the vanilla is indeed perfectly combined with the salty of the sea. « A top combination, » say the young managers with a smile. And you don’t need a bottomless portfolio for it either. « You order one or more balls of vanilla, and the jar of caviar costs 25 euros, » Aline continues. « We hardly make a profit on that, because the purchase price of the caviar is not much lower. It is especially our intention to offer something fun and exclusive. You can also share such an order with your partner or friends. We have noticed that this last weekend was already appreciated. » (grins)
