An explosion rocked a port in southern Iran, over 500 were injured
At least 516 were injured after a large explosion shook the port of Shahid Rajai in broad daylight in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abas, an important center of the oil industry.
According to power -related agencies, they are containers in the port. Whether they had died was not reported in the first hours after the explosion.
The footage showed that a difficult fire had erupted. The trucks are removed from the area of the container where the explosion took place.
Different versions
Some of these containers probably contained « dangerous loads and chemicals » (the first version of the customs office indicates negligence in dealing with them, though it does not explicitly specify it as a cause).
Iran and the United States begin in Oman Third Meeting for Nuclear Deal
There is no damage to oil facilities in the area. However, windows were broken within a few kilometers. According to Fars Agency, the explosion was heard in Keshi, an island 26 km south of Bandar Abas. Al Arabia reports that it has been understood in other cities and that the damage in the region is great.
In 2020, computers at the same port were affected by a cyberattack, which caused massive crashes on waterways and roads leading to the facility. The Washington Post then announced that Israel seems to be behind the operation.
