Environmental scandal on Lake Constance: Episode 2 – foam in front of the mouth
Mark Schoder
With an Armada of lawyers, the AMCOR packaging giant tries to stop inspection – without success. The St.Gallen Tagblatt finds out: The substances poisoned with Pfas not only flowed from the wastewater shaft into Lake Constance, but also landed in a sewage cleaning system and in the Thur.
« Amcor has not informed the police or the canton or the fire brigade about the accident, » criticizes Sandro Büchler, editor at the St.Galler Tagblatt. He says: At least part of the environmental scandal could have prevented the Aluriese. Did the judiciary prefer the large company? That must evaluate the public. One thing is certain: Amcor paid the buses of CHF 5,000 from the postage.
In the second episode of our research “Environmental Scandal on Lake Constance”, we look at what the inspection of the files revealed: legal loopholes, political adjustment screws – and a company that prefers to be covered up instead.
