Alarming balance. The inspectors of the Romanian Auto Register (rare) have checked in trafficfrom a technical point of view, last year, 89,520 vehicles across the country and found that 40.01% had major and/or dangerous technical deficiencies, which is why they were declared non -compliant.

Most non-conformities were found at the electrical lighting-signaling installation (24.51%), polluting emissions (18.91%), bridges, rims, tires and suspension (11.29%), visibility (11.23%) and chassis and elements attached to the chassis (10.40%), according to a statement of RAR.

Non -compliance with the braking system were detected in 5.12% of the controlled vehicles and in 1.68% of the cases there were problems with the steering system.

'Following the checks, deficiencies from the sphere of pollution were identified at 6,380 vehicles. RAR inspectors have identified in traffic and vehicles with dangerous faults in braking, direction or bridges and fuses. In the case of 5,522 vehicles it was considered to have an imminent danger of accident. About 2.2% of the verified vehicles had problems related to the periodic technical inspection – fake, expired or canceled. Following the mixed checks carried out by RAR and the Road Police, during 2024, 27,032 sanctions were applied, 22,892 registration certificates were withdrawn, 341 vehicles and 304 ITPs were canceled ', the statement said.

In Bucharest and Ilfov county, 6,655 vehicles were checked during the mentioned period. Of these, 69.2% had different technical non -conformities or related to 1,539 (23.13%) had imminent danger of accident. Of the total of the vehicles stopped, in 17.73% of the cases there were deficiencies from the sphere of pollution, 5.6% had problems related to identification and 4% had false, expired or canceled.

Following the mixed checks carried out by RAR and the Road Police in this region, 4,054 contraventional fines were applied and 3,649 registration certificates were withdrawn.

In case one of the measures taken was to withhold the registration certificate, it can be regained only after carrying out a specific technical inspection at the RAR representations in the country, the source said.
