After 10 pm, violations of the use of pyrotechnic articles were found in some places in Latvia, administrative violation processes have been initiated and several fireworks have been identified.
One of the fireworks was caught in Bolderaja. When asked why pyrotechnic products were used on the date of prohibited in Latvia, the man answered law enforcement that he had celebrated his mother’s death anniversary. With such an answer, however, he failed to avoid the administrative violation process.
The Law « On the Prohibition of Organization of Individual Public events on May 9 » stipulates that the use of pyrotechnic articles is prohibited on this date and on May 10 until 7 pm in the territory of Latvia.
In Russia, the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II was celebrated every year in 1945. In Latvia, too, some of the society is still a tradition to celebrate the so -called victory festival, but this date has long been identified in Eastern Europe by the beginning of the occupation of the Baltic States and the annexation of the USSR.
LETA has already reported that the State Police in Latvia has so far launched 61 administrative violation process and detained two persons. In the Riga and Latgale region, 20 administrative violation processes are started, in Kurzeme region – 14, in Zemgale region – four, and in Vidzeme region three.
The total number of administrative violations is expected to increase significantly when a number of possible violations on the Internet are evaluated, explained Lasma Greidane, Deputy Head of the Public Relations Department of the State Police.
Overall, on the evaluation of the State Police, May 9 has passed in Latvia without significant incidents, preventing services from serious security incidents.
