Alphabet (Google), AI makes revenues fly: over 90 billion in 3 months
Artificial intelligence, cloud and YouTube push Alphabet turnover, which rises 12% in the first quarter, exceeding expectations. The CEO Pichai: the launch of Gemini 2.5 turning point
In spite of growing legal pressures, including the antitrust cause in progress in Washington, where the Department of Justice asked Google to sell Chrome, Alphabet continues to grind profits. The Mountain View holding, which controls Google, closed the first quarter with growing revenues of 12%, at 90.23 billion dollars compared to 80.5 billion in the same period of 2024. As well as uphill operating profit, which reached 30.6 billion, while net profit reached 34.54 billion, against 23.66 billion of the previous year.
In the previous quarter – the last of 2024 – the revenues were 96.47 billion, with a net profit of 26.54 billion. But the slight economic drop is compensated by a significant tendential acceleration, which confirms the solidity of the Alphabet business in an uncertain macroeconomic context, explains the Mountain View group.
« We are satisfied with the results of the first quarter, which reflect healthy growth and a strong momentum in all areas of the company, » said Sundar Pichai, CEO of both Alphabet and Google, underlining that at the basis of this growth there is the « full stack » approach to artificial intelligence, that is, the integrated strategy with which Google (and in general Alphabet) develops and manages the entire ecosystem linked artificial intelligence, from hardware inferior to products for the end user.
“It was an exciting quarter in which We launched Gemini 2.5, Our most advanced artificial intelligence model, which is already obtaining extraordinary results in terms of performance and which represents an exceptional basis for future innovation « , added the top manager by defining the launch of Gemini 2.5, a « turning point ».
One of the main growth drivers was once again the search engine, which continues to record a « strong development » thanks also to the introduction of the OVERVIEWS, tools based on artificial intelligence already used by 1.5 billion people per month.
The subscription segment is also rapidly expanding: by combining the revenues of YouTube Premium, YouTube Music and Google One, Alphabet has exceeded 270 million paying subscriptions.
In detail, YouTube generated $ 8.93 billion in advertising revenues in the first quarter of 2025, increasing compared to 8.09 billion a year ago. The Google Cloud division reported revenues for 12.26 billion, against 9.57 billion in the same period of 2024.
The Google Subscriptions, Platforms and Devices category is also fine, which includes hardware, Play Store and non -advertising revenues of YouTube: the total has reached 10.38 billion dollars, compared to 8.74 billion a year ago.
According to Pichai, « the demand for cloud solutions was significant » and contributes to strengthening Alphabet’s position as one of the key actors in the development and offer of advanced services based on AI.
