Almost crashed by Wizz Air

  • The pilots' fault came close to the disaster
  • Wizz Air has fully investigated the case, lessons have been incorporated into training
  • The two pilots also made a mistake in not communicating with each other

The « serious flight » was not concealed on November 10, 2016, according to the official definition, but it has never really been made public How close they were to the disaster Travelers on the machine. A foreign Youtuber recently made an animated video of the incident, but our paper not only happened to the events but also for errors made during flight and their consequences.

Wizz Air 801 in English was a machine called a ferry, according to Hungarian terminology: there was no passengers on NIS Airport in Serbia from Budapest. Perhaps that was the reason for that have happened to the machine They did not get more publicity. The two pilots who drove the plane had never been to Nisen before, this was their first trip here. That day, the first officer drove the machine, and the captain performed the service. Outside them, there were four -person staff on board, one of them in the cockpit. As they approached Nis Airport, air control did not pre -program the pilots to another approach procedure. While they reprogrammed the machine, they did not realize that the computer was inserted by an unnecessary 360 degree round to the route, and the autopilot followed it from then on. The driver driving the machine then set the computer to sink to 1000 feet – approx. 300 meters – which was a huge mistake, as there was a 3100 feet – 944 meters – high mountain on the plane. The captain, whom his colleague did not inform about the operations so far, asked: Why do we sink? At that moment, the anger warning about the Earth's proximity was spoke, and both pilots pulled the machine's nose up with their own stick. In this case, the maximum thrust must be given with the gas arm, but this was only late, the nose of the machine has risen to the sky, and the speed has been drastically reduced.

They were saved by the automation, which, by sensing the speed of speed, immediately to maximum the performance of the engines. However, the pilots did not take this back after they reached a safe height, so they went almost twice as high at the speed instead of the 4300 feet – 1310 meters – at an over 7,000 feet. Then they finally landed at Nis Airport without trouble, but probably Wizz Air had never been so close to the disaster. Blikk obtained a final report on the investigation of the incident, which revealed that although the captain was on standby, the previous day was unable to relax properly, but he felt fit for flight. However, the first officer driving the machine could have been properly rested, as he had not flew 10 days before. The investigations found that the pilots made a mistake: they did not communicate properly, they did not inform the other of the operations, and to do one at the same time, while not doing other important tasks.

« The incident was known to Wizz Air, the incident was fully investigated and has since been incorporated into its training program, » the airline informed us. – Security was extremely important for Wizz Air, so the airline, in accordance with the highest safety standards, continuously trains and examines each member of its staff. Airline, including Wizz Air, use strict review and retraining procedures, as they have done for the pilots concerned. Following the incident of flight 801, both the captain and the first officer attended further training, which were successfully completed. We use the simulators of our training centers in Budapest and Rome for such repetitive and complementary training.

Wizz Air conducted an internal investigation into the case of flight 801. The airline has well -documented security and training results, so it has shared the full material and its findings with all the pilots of Wizz Air, and has incorporated the recommendations made by the authority in its training materials and the company's flight practices.
