All full of lumpfish but smaller quota
« It is a great thing to calm down in this weather, » says Arnþór Hermannsson, skipper of Sæþóri EA 101, but he recently went with his brother Heimi Heimi and Thorgeiri Baldursson, photographer and sailor, hunting.
« We went out at half past seven in the morning in complete calm and went out with the rock out under the mule towards Olafsfjordur.
Arnthór says that the times to the north were unique this winter.
« When we started February 8th on the lumpfish, it was calm for almost two months, and occasionally a little southwest, you do not remember other weather here during this time of year, » he says, adding that only in the dark week there was a little bull. « That’s the only thing we’ve seen from the north since the beginning of February. »
Captain Arnþór says it is incomprehensible that the lumpfish quota has decreased by a third since last year when there is plenty of fish.

When Arnthor is asked how he thinks the lumpfish quota has been reduced by one -third between years he cuts. « Hafro does not seem to find any lumpfish rather than anything else in the ocean. It has never been as good fishing compared to the number of net number as this year, but we have probably had half the nets than in recent years but are still fishing better, » he says, adding that in the light of smaller quotas they could not apply.
Arnþór says that it must be a better relationship with those who are fishing and see how the fishing gear rather than letting the MRI completely take care of the quota. « It should just have this in a similar role as it has been in recent years. So it’s not good enough what Hafro gives up late quota. When the season starts in early February, it’s not late to release it until April. »

Close to prohibiting capelin hunting
