Reformation day on October 31st is a holiday in Bremen
With ten holidays, Brandenburg has fewer public holidays than many other federal states. Most are in Bavaria at 13 – in Augsburg there is even one more with the peace festival there.
In Brandenburg, the nine holidays that exist in all federal states in Germany are particularly valid. But also on the Reformation Day on October 31, people have free of work or school free of school.
On October 31, the Protestant Christians in Germany commemorate the Reformation by Martin Luther. According to the tradition on October 31, 1517, this is said to have hit his 95 theses to the door of the castle church in Wittenberg.
In doing so, he also opposed the indulgence trade and thus against the conviction that people could buy themselves from their sins through money payments. This had already happened through the victim of Jesus.
