Alert in Spain. Tens of thousands of people, isolated into houses

Nearly 80,000 people were advised to isolate themselves in homes, with closed doors and windows, after a fire in the day of Wednesday in a hangar with chemicals in an industrial area near Sevilla, in southern Spain, AFP reports.

The emergency services received the alert to the local time 13.20 (11.20 GMT), when the inhabitants in the area reported a huge black cloud that came from a plant from the industrial area to Red in Alcala de Guadaira, a city with almost 77,000 people, located 15 km from Sevilla.

According to the emergency services statement, they ordered the preventive evacuation of the industrial area. At this stage, there are no injured, as far as they know.

« It is recommended for the population in the area to close the doors and windows to avoid smoking, as well as to avoid approaching, and to stay in the houses, » the emergency services said.

The incident is the second of this type produced in the last days in Spain. On Saturday morning, around 150,000 people were isolated in Catalonia, in the northeast of the country, due to a toxic chlorine cloud, caused by a fire in an industrial warehouse where there were products for swimming pools.
