Aleksandar Stefanov New President of the Handball Federation of Macedonia
The Handball Federation of Macedonia (RHM) today elected Alexander Stefanov as the new president, giving confidence to the current member of the Board of Directors to lead Macedonian handball in the next four years.
Stefanov was elected the head of the FHM by acclamation of the regular election assembly in Skopje as the only candidate, in place of the longtime President of the FYROM Zivko Mukaetov.
– It is an honor and responsibility to present my program. I have been in handball for 26 years, part as a player and part as Head of RK Butel and this sport is my biggest passion and desire. I want to continue to promote Macedonian handball. I want to build a system of endurance of our sport. My program consists of some basic pillars. For a healthy basis we need to work on infrastructure and its development. In the first two years, a handball home is planned, which will take care of all the youth and senior categories, a multi-functional center that will offer a hall, fitness center, offices… We will emphasize women's handball, where there is a lot of space for progress. We will promote this aspect with stands, TV shows and our legends' commitment to help us to choose handball as their sport. We want to form a mini-handball league, competition for children from 8 to 12 years on the territory of all of Macedonia. The financial aspect of the federation is in safe hands and we are already talking to several potential sponsors. Software is planning to facilitate administrative work. We have a year of big cadet and youth competitions ahead, we need to activate even the youngest selections and encourage even more people to be part of our sport. The women's league is a general patron, because the female volleyball has taken our primacy and we need to do what is in our power to bring the women's club handball where it belongs – said Stefanov.
The replacement of the presidency comes after Mukaetov withdrew from his duties that he had been doing with great success for the past 12 years in which he raised the standards of club and national handball in Macedonia.
« For 12 years, as long as the mandate of this management set, we not only managed to realize the outlined, but by the way, we have also dealt with the numerous challenges to which we have paid due attention, in order for the Macedonian handball to function at an enviable level, » Mukaetov said.
